A report is going before council on Official Plan and Zoning Amendments for the location of methadone clinics in Windsor.  This issue was raised at council after two of these clinics opened up in residential neighborhoods.  One in the west end and one in Walkerville.  Amendments to the bylaw will now prevent commercial buildings within residential areas from housing methadone clinics.  The full report of the Planning Advisory Committee can be viewed online here.

The parking lots next to the casino are once again back before council.  The lots  in the Glengarry-Marentette area must comply with standards to make them more attractive.  This includes paving, lighting, landscape and fencing to match what the casino has.  Lot owners in the past have fought this, saying it’s too costly.  A new timeline gives them until 2013 to complete all the work.

The sidewalk cafe season will be extended.  Four more weeks are being added to it, as it will not start on March 1st.  Council will also waive the fees for mini cafes this year as they study a new by-law for them.  Mini cafe’s are two tables and four chairs outside of an establishments.

You can view the entire agenda online.
