Windsor’s labour and arts communities are joining with other cities across Canada to present the second annual labour-focused cultural MayWorks Festival.
The month long festival will feature a collection of exhibitions, projects, events, a rally and a parade to celebrate our creativity as a community, our dedication to the values of workers’ solidarity, social justice and human rights.
Here is the schedule of events for the first two weeks of the festival.
April 28th – Workers Day of Mourning
This event honours workers injured or killed on the job.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Church Located at 834 Raymo (at Wyandotte E) @ 5:00 pm
April 29th – Abilene Paradox
Art exhibition opening reception
Artcite Inc., 109 University West @ 7:30 pm
April 30th – DiggIn
Work and party in the Campus Community Garden,
Sunset & Fanchette, @ 4:00 pm
May 1st – May Day March
Meet at 4:30 pm @ Ouellette & Riverside
Music and performances to follow after the march at the Downtown Armouries.
May 5th – Wasteland an Oscar nominated film,
Presented by WIFF. $10.00

May 6th – Socialism in 21st Century Cuba
Day of Solidarity with the Cuban Revolution

May 7th – Rusted: Work in Progress by Collette Broeders
