This weekend the Mudpuppy Art Gallery in Amherstburg celebrated the opening of it’s first photography show. The walls of the gallery are currently covered with over 100 photos taken by pros and amateurs alike, from all age brackets.
The content of the photos ranges from sunsets and nature, to a Hitler doll in a pink bunny suit, to simple photos that have been photoshopped into fantastic works of art. And best of all, most all of the prints are for sale, at artist defined prices.
The Mudpuppy Gallery was established last year as a venue for the founding members, as well as for other local artists to showcase their work. Open shows are held with regularity and allow those who might not otherwise display their work the opportunity to do so. Founders say that in the past they have been asked about hosting a photography show, which prompted the one currently happening at the gallery. Already it is being called a success, with an overwhelming turnout.
The show will be running until February 23rd, and the gallery is open Thursday to Sunday, 12 to 8 pm.
