The puck drops for the Windsor Spitfires’ 2010-2011 Season TONIGHT at the WFCU Centre.
Global Spectrum Facility Management gave us the chance to capture exactly how an arena is prepared for a hockey season.
Employees of Global Spectrum and the City of Windsor’s recreation department spent two weeks transforming the WFCU Centre from a cattle-ranchin’ rodeo to the home of the Spitfires. Check out our time lapse which spans the last few weeks of August.
Watch as work crews remove dirt, clean the concrete surface of the main bowl, wash it dozens of times, paint the surface white, stencil in advertisements, decals and logos and fill the bowl with an inch of ice.
Toward the end of the video, the 2010 Memorial Cup Champion Spitfires themselves take to the ice for preseason practice.
Thanks to Global Spectrum for making this happen.
And GO SPITS!
