Dari Delight has been a staple in Windsor for generations, never missing a season in the 48 years it has been open. It is one of Windsor’s oldest ice cream establishments, serving up sweets since 1956.
The family-owned establishment is owned by Renee Malette, who bought it from the previous owner who was her father. Renee had worked at the restaurant since she was 12 years old, and the whole family helps out from season to season continually.
Windsorites long await for the season to start around mid-April every year, and they stay open until the Thanksgiving weekend.
The store offers a variety of sweet treats and select snacks. Some favourites include sundaes, milkshakes, classic soft serve, dipped soft serve, and hard ice cream. They also can whip up specialty sweets including banana splits, brownie sundaes, and parfaits.
Dari Delite is fun for the whole family, offering varying sizes and types of ice cream and other sweet treats. The location is a more vintage spot, where the customer orders at the window and takes their items to-go. You can watch the entire process of your sweet treat being put together before enjoying it through the open space of the kiosk-like location.
It’s a perfect spot for those summer strolls or even to enjoy in the car when driving by. The shop primarily sticks to just serving cold treats, focusing and perfecting their product that has been enjoyed for many generations in the area.
Whether it’s in a cup or cone, Dari Delite has got it. Check them out at 2686 Howard Ave, and check for updates and hours on their Facebook page here.
