Dairy Freez has been a family tradition for many locals in the Windsor-Essex area for 65 years–including to the family running the establishment.
Arlene Reaume, with her husband Mike Reaume, have ran Dairy Freez for the past 21 years. Arlene’s parents ran it for 22 years before that, and her grandparents ran it for 22 years before that. All running families make Dairy Freez quite literally their home, as they live right next door to the kiosk.
Arlene’s grandfather started the business in 1954, with the spot being referred to as “God’ Little Acre” by family upon the establishment’s success.
Dairy Freez has everything someone looking for a sweet–or savory–treat.
The business offers traditional vanilla soft serve ice cream that can be put together and made in to many fan favorite treats. Some specialty items past a simple ice cream cone are ice cream sundaes, banana splits, and ice cream dipped in chocolate, caramel or M&M’s.
All Dairy Freez sweet creations can be enjoyed in a cup, cone, or upside down in a cup with a cone if you want to enjoy both options.
Dairy Freez also has many options for lunch, dinner or a late night snack varying from burgers, chicken strips, hot dogs, and much more.
The location features the ice cream and food kiosk for ordering and picking up, as well as a large parking lot area acquired by the family next to the house on the property for easy and convenient visiting.
Dairy Freez can be enjoyed on the go, or on the property as well with many beautiful seating areas to enjoy. Indoor seating and outdoor seating in the garden are available, allowing for treats to be enjoyed despite any weather.
Arlene mentions that not only are they proud of their product that they have served to the area for all of these years, but they are also grateful for their loyal customers and amazing staff. Dairy Freez employs roughly 40 people every summer.
