Ivy Handmade Industries opened their doors to the public on April 1st.
The shop, conveniently located in Tecumseh Mall, is home to art, clothing, jewellery and other handmade items from artisans and crafters in the Windsor/Essex County region.
A neighbourhood of wooden birdhouses made by local woodworker James Duggan are nestled by the front entrance.
As you walk further into the store, you’ll find it has an art gallery feel with the abundance of artwork, including the vibrant abstract paintings by Roger Ouellette Jr.
There is a little nook full of children’s items – such as colourful tutus, headbands, crochet dresses and mini-fabric photo albums. There are plenty of accessories from classic beaded necklaces and earrings to feathery fascinators.
Talented owners Dee-Dee Shkreli, Lori Moore and Harmony Peach all have their own creations available in the store.
Dee-Dee Shkreli is the fashion designer behind Dilly Daisy, a clothing line catering to cute and quirky women looking for colourful satin dresses and polka dot blouses. She also makes a line of Dilly Daisy jewellery to accompany her fashion designs. Lori Moore is the creative energy behind The Gilded Lily. In the store you can find her reversible bucket hats, convertible sundresses, jewellery and accessories, fabric passport holders, floral luggage tags and cute greeting cards that double as fabric brooches. Harmony Peach is a multi-talented trained artist whose artistic ventures include painting, sculpting, carved soap, creating hair fascinators, bridal bouquets and accessories. Her creative businesses include both Handmade by Harmony and Absolutely Beautiful Bridal Bouquets and Accessories.
Be sure to check out their Facebook page for updates about new merchandise.
There will be new items being created by local artisans and added to the store regularly, so no two visits will ever be the same.
Next time you’re in Tecumseh Mall make sure to head down to the food court where you will find the bright and inviting Ivy Handmade Industries.
