When co-owner, Trevor Pare, asked himself what he wanted in Downtown Windsor, he knew Rockefeller Lounge was a must.

“I’ve worked at fifteen or so bars my entire life, I’m familiar with the industry; Windsor didn’t have a casual drink spot with both good food and good drinks,” states Pare.

A prestige cocktail bar at the start of the Ouellette Avenue strip, Rockefeller Lounge provides the best mixed drinks, to modern-American “high-end bar food” ranging from hand-cut, house-made burgers, and high-quality macaroni and cheese.

Rockefeller Lounge opened May 1st, but began its renovations in November of 2013. Pare spoke only highly of the surrounding businesses, noting the metaphor that he didn’t want to be one slice of pie, but simply add to the bigger pie that is Downtown Windsor.

Once known as Tabu Nightclub, the four new owners (including Pare) knew drastic changes had to be made. “We didn’t want people coming in and remembering where things were from the previous establishment. We basically started from scratch.”

Decorating the lounge is highlights of New York City, a favourite place of co-owner Christian Pinard. “I didn’t want to shove the NYC life down the throats of everyone that came in, I just wanted it accented with an industrial-loft feel.”

Rockefeller Lounge is located at 552 Ouellette Avenue, and are open every day and night from 4pm until 2am.
