It’s been five years since the WFCU Centre opened and 862 goals scored since the Windsor Spitfires moved into their new home.
The WFCU Centre celebrated their 5th anniversary during a ceremony Thursday afternoon.
Officials say ticketed attendance was 1,545,780 over five years, 13,166 hours were spent building stages, 97,607 bags of popcorn were sold, 27,848 sports games were played, the weight equivalent of 3,722 gold bars was hung from the roof during one event at one time, and the rinks were rented for a total of 178,107 hours.
General Manager of Events Jason Toner called the past five years an incredible journey and mentioned that the WFCU Centre has literally put Windsor on the world stage with events like Elton John and Carrie Underwood.
