A new online resource archiving local “bandology” is in the creation stages.
The Windsor Public Library is calling all local musicians, local bands and fans to contribute to a new online resource, which will be a visual network of the connections between live bands and musicians throughout the years in Windsor. This project is a spinoff of Phog Lounge’s Windsor Rock Wall started by Tom Lucier in 2011.
The new website, windsormusictangle.com will launch this September in coordination with Phog Phest. Leading up to the web site launch, Windsor Music Tangle’s Lead Researcher, Michelle Soullière, is collecting data from local live musicians and live music fans to complete the “bandology.”
“Windsor Public Library’s new online resource will pay homage to the amazing musical talent we have in our city today, and also dating back almost 80 years. The live music scene in Windsor is something to be proud of,” says Soullière. “As an artist, I’m eager to add other media to this project; I’ve been envisioning additions of print, video, and textile components to the web site and launch at Phog Phest.”
Contributors of information to the Windsor Music Tangle should include their contact information, band name(s), musicians, genres and decades by band, and instruments by musician.
Funded by the Government of Ontario, Windsor Music Tangle is a collaborative project including Windsor Public Library, Phog Lounge and Spotvin Inc. Visit Windsor Music Tangle on Facebook at www.facebook.com/WindsorMusicTangle.
