Over 6,000 Red Light Tickets Issued In 2023

The City of Windsor issued over 6,000 tickets in 2023 at red light cameras.
In 2022, the red light cameras were installed and were all in operation at the end of February 2022 at the following intersections:
- Wyandotte Street East at Goyeau Street
- University Avenue West at Crawford Avenue
- Erie Street East at Goyeau Street
- Howard Avenue at E.C. Row Expressway eastbound off-ramp
- Huron Church Road at Tecumseh Road West
- Eugenie Street East at McDougall Street
- McHugh Street at Clover Avenue
- Wyandotte Street at Ouellette Avenue
- Ouellette Avenue at Giles Boulevard
- Seminole Street at Central Avenue
The City says that for the first full year of operating in 2023, 6,141 tickets were issued with revenue of $1,224,201. After expenses of $215,063, the City made a net profit of $1,009,138.
Tickets for running a red light are $325 and are mailed directly to vehicle owners verified as violating local traffic laws.
A report going to Windsor City Council on February 26th recommends adding ten additional cameras in the City.
