Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Wednesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 64 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Wednesday.
New & Total Cases
The Health Unit says 24 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 20 cases are community acquired, 1 case is outbreak related, and the acquisition sources of 19 cases are still under investigation.
Total overall cases increased from 21,310 on Tuesday November 23rd to 21,374 on Wednesday November 24th.
They say 374 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex (increase of 34 since yesterday).
Vaccinations
Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex):
- 329,073 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+147 since yesterday)
- 13,159 people have received only their first dose of a vaccine (-139 since yesterday)
- 315,914 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+286 since yesterday)
- 16,607 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+1,339 since yesterday)
- A total of 661,594 vaccine doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+1,772 since yesterday)
Vaccination Percentages
- 75.1 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 86.7 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 12+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 72.1 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 83.3 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 12+) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
- 3.8 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (all ages) have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (increase of 0.4 per cent since yesterday)
Note: The Health Unit says 438,001 people are living in Windsor and Essex County presently.

The Health Unit lists 20,530 total resolved cases.
That’s an increase of 29 resolved cases since yesterday.
Deaths
The Health Unit announced one additional death from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 470. They say a man in his 60s from the community passed away.
Hospitalizations
The Health Unit lists 23 hospitalizations today: 18 people in acute care (increase of 4), and 5 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
