Youth Escapes Serious Injuries After Train Hits Bike

A youth was sent to hospital after a train struck his bike Wednesday afternoon.
OPP say it happened around 4:00pm near Manning Road in the Municipality of Lakeshore.
Two youths were near an overpass when a Canadian Pacific freight train struck a bicycle that belonged to one of the youths. The rider moved to safety just before the bicycle being struck. One of the youths was taken to the hospital for treatment of a minor injury from contact with the bike.
Police are reminding pedestrians, off-road vehicle operators and motor vehicle drivers of the danger of being near railway tracks due to the speed at which the trains are operating at.
It is an offence to trespass on the tracks, and legislation regarding this matter can be found under the Railway Safety Act
