The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has confirmed 6 additional cases of COVID-19 as of Saturday, bringing the local total to 956. They said 496 people locally have recovered.
Cases increased from 950 on Friday May 29th to 956 on Saturday May 30th.
The Health Unit says there have been no additional deaths due to COVID-19 as of Saturday and the local death toll stands at 63. Saturday marks two weeks without any local COVID-19 deaths.
The Health Unit says there are ongoing outbreaks at two long-term care and retirement facilities:
- Chartwell Royal Oak
- Heron Terrace
The Health Unit says 16,808 total tests have been conducted since testing began locally and 927 tests are pending as of Saturday.
Random COVID-19 Testing
Random testing continues Saturday and Sunday at the drive-thru testing centre in the parking lot of the SilverCity movie theatre on Walker Road between 10:00am and 5:00pm.
The Health Unit tested 385 people at the drive-in testing centre on Friday.
They say you will need to provide a Health Card and contact information in order to get tested and testing is available to anyone 12-years-old or older.
