Ontario’s general minimum wage will grow from $11 per hour to $11.25 per hour as of Thursday.
Minimum wage rates for jobs in special categories like liquor servers, homeworkers, students will also be increasing.
Liquor servers wage will go up to $9.80 per hour from $9.55, student wage will climb from $10.30 per hour to $10.55 per hour, and homeworker minimum wage will go up to $12.40 per hour from $12.10 per hour.
When the government announced the hike back in March they said that the increase was the result of recent changes to the Employment Standards Act that tie minimum wage increases to Ontario’s Consumer Price Index.
The last time it was raised was on June 1st, 2014 when it went from $10.25 per hour to $11.
