After being in business for 10 years, Tsunami Glassworks co-owner, Eva Milinkovic, decided a move from Mercer Street to a new location was best for both the sales and craft aspect of the company.
Milinkovic first discovered her passion for glass before attending Sheridan College and meeting husband and business partner, Kriston Gene. The two worked for places like the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto before residing in Windsor.
For those who are new to the Glassblowing art technique, it involves inflating molten glass into a bubble (or desired shape), with the aid of a blowpipe, manipulated with a small torch.
Fully renovated store-front with space for creating and sculpting in the back, the location has taken over George’s Cutting Edge Flooring, next door to the Club Alouette at 2440 Central Avenue in Windsor.
“We mostly work with trade, so this is a first for us to be centrally located with a store. This space worked out perfectly for us,” says Milinkovic.
You can purchase any of the collection of glassware from Tsunami right in-house.
Collections vary from studio sculptures, to lighting fixtures, beverage glasses, and Christmas ornaments. Milinkovic is happy to state that “before it was more of an insider thing, but now we’re open to the public and every thing is for sale.”
You can also watch your custom item being made through windows into the back shop.
Tsunami Glassworks has big-name clients collecting their pieces, such as Embassy Suites, MGM Grand Café Belagio, Ritz Carlton, Calvin Klein Home, even Bloomingdales – just to list a few.
Tsunami Glassworks is open Monday through Friday from 9am until 5pm at 2440 Central Avenue.
You can reach them by phone at (519) 258-7620.
