Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update For Thursday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 109 new high risk cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Thursday. Testing is still limited to high risk individuals only the province estimates actual COVID-19 cases are around 10 times higher than what is being reported.

Total Cases & Active Cases

Total overall cases increased from 42,156 on Wednesday, April 20th to 42,303 on Thursday, April 21st.

There are 386 high-risk cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 10 active high-risk cases since yesterday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s COVID-19 vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).

• 356,870 people locally have received one dose of a vaccine (+26 since yesterday)
• 345,105 people locally have received a 2nd dose of a vaccine (+37 since yesterday)
• 194,997 people locally have received a 3rd dose of a vaccine (+98 since yesterday)
• 11,198 people locally have received a 4th dose of a vaccine (+928 since yesterday)

Vaccination Percentages

• 86.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 83.6 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)
• 51.4 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of < 0.1 per cent since yesterday)

There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 and the local death toll stands at 604.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 58 hospitalizations today, and 2 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU (decrease of 1).
