Health Unit COVID-19 Cases & Outbreaks Update From The Weekend

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 360 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County from over the weekend. The Health Unit does not report case counts and statistics on weekends but provides a weekend summary. The Health Unit now only reports high-risk cases as testing eligibility is still limited.

New & Total Cases

Total overall cases increased from 35,451 on Friday, February 4th to 35,810 on Monday, February 7th.

There are 672 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 56 cases since Friday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today (residents of Windsor-Essex).

• 353,602 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+327 since Friday)
• 336,441 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+921 since Friday)
• 181,109 people have received a 3rd dose/booster shot of a vaccine (+1,331 since Friday)

Vaccination Percentages

• 85.7 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) have received at least one dose of a vaccine (increase of 0.1 per cent since Friday)
• 81.5 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 5+) are fully vaccinated (increase of 0.2 per cent since Friday)
• 51.8 per cent of Windsor-Essex residents (ages 18+) have received a 3rd dose/booster (increase of 0.4 per cent since Friday)

Deaths

The Health Unit announced 3 additional deaths from COVID-19 bringing the local death toll to 565:

• 1 woman in her 60s from the community
• 2 men in their 70s from the community

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 70 hospitalizations today, and 10 of those hospitalizations are in the ICU (decrease of 1).
