The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 324 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Thursday.

NOTE: The Health Unit stresses that due to the recent surge in Omicron cases and changes in eligibility for testing, testing capacity is limited and case, contact, and outbreak management has been modified to focus on high-risk settings. As a result, they say case counts are an underestimate of the true number of individuals with COVID-19 in Windsor-Essex.

New & Total Cases

The Health Unit says 18 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 15 cases are community acquired, 7 cases are outbreak related, 7 cases are travel related, and the acquisition sources of 277 cases are still under investigation.

Total overall cases increased from 32,260 on Wednesday January 19th to 32,584 on Thursday January 20th.

There are 3,844 cases of COVID-19 currently active in Windsor-Essex (decrease of 222 cases since yesterday).
