44 New COVID-19 Cases Reported For Sunday, 41 For Monday, 41 For Tuesday In Windsor Essex

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 126 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on over three days (the Health Unit did not report case counts or data on Sunday or Monday due to holidays), bringing the local total to 14,154.

New Cases

Cases increased from 14,028 on Saturday April 3rd to 14,154 on Tuesday April 6th and 433 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

They say 44 cases would have been reported Sunday, 41 cases would have been reported Monday, and 41 cases are reported for Tuesday.

The Health Unit says 21 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 6 cases are community acquired, and 99 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.

The Health Unit says 116 preliminary or confirmed variant of concern cases have been identified to date (an increase of 25 since Saturday).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today:

  • 90,088 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+4,216 since Saturday)
    • 77,730 people have received only their first dose of a vaccine (+4,211 since Saturday)
    • 12,358 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+5 since Saturday)
  • A total of 102,446 vaccine doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+4,221 since Saturday)

How To Get A Vaccine

There are two vaccination programs for different age groups at the moment:

  • People 60 years of age and older
  • People aged 55 or older (AstraZeneca pharmacy rollout)

Resolved Cases

The Health Unit lists 13,318 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 84 resolved cases since Saturday.

Deaths

There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 since Saturday and the local death toll stands at 403.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 19 hospitalizations today: 14 people in acute care (increase of 4 since Saturday), and 5 people in the ICU (increase of 1 since Saturday) with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
