21 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Thursday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 21 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Thursday, bringing the local total to 13,667.
Today’s New Cases
Cases increased from 13,646 on Wednesday March 24th to 13,667 on Thursday March 25th and 229 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.
The Health Unit says 2 cases are outbreak-related, 6 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 6 cases are community acquired, and 7 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.
The Health Unit says 51 preliminary or confirmed variant of concern cases have been identified to date (+2 since yesterday).
Vaccinations
Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today:
- 49,834 people have received only their first dose of the vaccine (+3,012 since yesterday)
- 12,072 people have received both doses of the vaccine (full series) (+13 since yesterday)
- A total of 73,978 doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+3,038 since yesterday)

Resolved Cases
The Health Unit lists 13,037 total resolved cases.
That’s an increase of 37 resolved cases today.
Deaths
There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 today and the local death toll stands at 401.
Hospitalizations
The Health Unit lists 13 hospitalizations today: 8 people in acute care (2 less today), and 5 people in the ICU (1 more today) with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
