A father and son team won more than $58,000 with an OLG POOLS play.

James and Donald Ashby of Windsor won on the ticket, Football POOLS Card #30, List #1349.

POOLS is an OLG sports game where each $5 wager allows you to pick a sport, card number and who you think will win each matchup. Those with the most correct picks can win or share the prize pool.

“I like playing POOLS because I like sports – especially football,” shared James. “My dad and I started playing as a group recently. I like to play with him because he doesn’t really know how to play.”

James, 41, said he does some homework before choosing his teams. “My dad is a Green Bay Packers fan, so he always picks them!”

As James watched the games he knew he was winning. “The last game was extremely hard to watch,” he laughed. “I knew it was going to be a decent pool.”

When James found out his share of the pool the next day and told his wife she said, “Are you going to cry? Because I would cry.”

James plans to pay some bills, fix up his house and possibly buy a pinball machine.

This winners participated in a virtual prize claim process from home as OLG is limiting the number of in-person prize claim appointments to only those that require a face-to-face interview.

The winning ticket was purchased at A&A Tecumseh Convenience on Lesperance Road in Windsor.
