The City of Windsor is making municipal parking lots free on Tuesday, February 16th, through Thursday, February 18th, 2021, to assist residents with getting vehicles off the street and help plow crews clear the roads as quickly and efficiently as possible.
City plows are keeping the main arterial routes clear now and expect to continue on main routes during the day on Tuesday.
Contracted equipment has been scheduled to move into residential areas late Tuesday morning and will be joined by City and Coco plow trucks as main routes are completed. A full residential clearing by city and contract crews takes between 24 and 36 hours normally.
The sidewalks abutting residential and commercial properties are the responsibility of the property owner. Residential property owners are asked to ensure to clear their sidewalks within 12 hours after snowfall occurs, and commercial property owners within 4 hours.
The city also reminds you that under the Highway Traffic Act and City of Windsor by-laws, residents are prohibited from shovelling snow back onto the street while clearing sidewalks and driveways, as this creates unsafe road conditions for motorists.
