The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 25 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Saturday, bringing the local total to 12,319.

Today’s New Cases

Cases increased from 12,294 on Friday February 5th to 12,319 on Saturday February 6th and 365 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 8 cases are outbreak-related, 8 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 7 cases are community acquired, and 2 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.

Resolved Cases

The Health Unit lists 11,611 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 58 resolved cases today.

Deaths

The Health Unit announced seven new deaths from COVID-19 today bringing the local death toll to 343.

They say:

• 6 are from long-term care and retirement homes
  • Two men and a woman in their 70s
  • A man and a woman in in their 80s
  • A woman in her 100s
• 1 is from the community
  • A man in his 70s

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 51 hospitalizations today: 41 people in acute care (2 less today), and 10 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
