44 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex Announced Tuesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 44 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Tuesday, bringing the local total to 12,606.

Today’s New Cases

Cases increased from 12,562 on Sunday February 14th to 12,606 on Tuesday February 16th and 306 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

They say all 44 new cases are from February 14th and no new cases were reported Monday February 15th. The Health Unit did not release any information on Monday due to the holiday.

The Health Unit says 16 cases are outbreak-related, 8 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 4 cases are community acquired, and 16 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.

Resolved Cases

The Health Unit lists 11,945 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 43 resolved cases over two days.

Deaths

There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 and the local death toll stands at 355.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 33 hospitalizations today: 22 people in acute care, and 11 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.

Vaccinations

The Health Unit provided a vaccination update today (+/- change in parentheses from Friday’s numbers):

  • 2,502 have received only their first dose of the vaccine (-2,036)
  • 9,559 have received both doses of the vaccine (full series) (+2,161)
  • A total of 21,620 doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+2,286)
