Erie Shore HealthCare is making some changes as cases of COVIS-19 increase.
Since Friday, the hospital says that they have experienced an increase in the number of individuals at the Emergency Room and COVID Assessment Centre with symptoms of COVID-19, which has resulted in admissions to the hospital and capacity challenges.
To meet the challenges, effective Monday, November 23rd, their visitor policy will be amended to reflect a new tiered approach that aligns with the new provincial colour-coding system.
The policy changes can be found listed on their website.
The hospital says they will not be ramping down surgical services and diagnostic imaging at this time.
“We are committed to a more conservative approach in Wave 2 to ramp down, as we have recognized the impact our patients experienced with delays in surgical and diagnostic procedures in Wave 1,” said Arms Bumanlag, Director of Communications and Public Relations.
The hospital also says that they set up work from home options for several employee groups and have made other internal changes to keep staff safe.
