The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has confirmed 46 new cases of COVID-19 as of Saturday, bringing the local total to 1,179. They say 701 people locally have recovered.
Cases increased from 1,133 on Friday June 12th to 1,179 on Saturday June 13th.
Saturday’s increase in cases is the second highest local daily increase in cases since the start of the pandemic. The highest day was April 15th.
The Health Unit did not provide a breakdown of Saturday’s cases such as community transmission, agri-farm workers, or close contacts.
There have been no additional deaths due to COVID-19 as of Saturday and the local death toll stands at 67.
One long-term care home is, Country Village Homes in Woodslee, is under outbreak.
The Health Unit has started listing workplace categories that have outbreaks where two or more workers have tested “positive for COVID-19 within a reasonable timeline to suspect transmission in the workplace.” Currently, Kingsville has 3 workplaces under outbreak, and Leamington has 6 workplaces under outbreak.
