The 2020 Festival of Birds, scheduled to take place between May 1st and May 20th at Point Pelee National Park, has been cancelled due to COVID-19.

In addition, Parks Canada says that anyone considering a visit to Point Pelee National Park should cancel their plans. Visitor vehicle access and visitor services at all Parks Canada places are temporarily suspended and all visitor facilities are closed. These actions are intended to respect the advice of public health experts to stay home and avoid public gatherings.

During the temporary suspension of visitor services, Point Pelee National Park remains committed to connecting with Canadians through virtual programming. Throughout the month of May, the national park will share migration information and deliver virtual presentations to allow visitors to explore the park online and to help visitors participate in birding activities from their homes during this year’s spring migration.

Point Pelee National Park will also share the real-time sounds of the park, and welcome virtual visitors to “bird” by ear. Follow Point Pelee National Park on Facebook at facebook.com/PointPeleeNP or on Twitter @PointPeleeNP to participate.
