MADD Windsor & Essex County has launched the annual Project Red Ribbon campaign to promote sober driving throughout the upcoming holiday season.
MADD Canada’s red ribbon are symbols of a person’s commitment to drive safe and sober during the holiday season, and also serve as a powerful tribute to all those killed or injured in impaired driving crashes.
“This is an opportunity to educate thousands of people about the dangers and consequences of impaired driving before the busy holiday season begins,” said MADD Windsor & Essex County Community Leader, Chaouki Hamka. “We are very fortunate to have such amazing police partners, including the LaSalle Police Service who work, day in and day out, to take impaired drivers off the roads and keep our communities safe.”
From November 1st, 2019 to January 6th, 2020, MADD Windsor & Essex County along with those in law enforcement, emergency services and other community organizations and businesses will be distributing red ribbons.
“Everyone has a role to play in keeping our roads safe,” said Hamka. “Please plan ahead for a safe and sober ride home if you’re going to be consuming alcohol, cannabis or other drugs. Driving impaired is never worth the risk.”
