Electric scooters are coming to the University of Windsor campus after the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance signed a deal with ZIP Dockless Inc.
ZIP is Canada’s first dockless scooter company and has been developing dockless scooter technology.
“We are thrilled to be working with such passionate student representatives,” said Founder, Luke Mydlarz. “UWSA sees the long-term benefits of working with a local company that can provide an alternative, affordable, and environmentally friendly transportation options for its students.”
The plan is to bring the new scooters to the campus when road use regulations are amended, which they hope is by the fall.
“We’re happy to be working with ZIP to introduce another environmentally friendly initiative on our green campus. Like our southern neighbours at Wayne State University, I’m excited to see how students make use of ZIP’s easy-to-ride, mobile and innovative scooters,” said UWSA President Jeremiah Bowers. “We saw ZIP as an opportunity to evaluate something new and exciting for students for Fall 2019. Most importantly, it is at no cost to the students’ union. We look forward to seeing new and returning students zipping around campus”
