A summertime tradition along the riverfront could see a major investment in the 2017 budget.
City administration is proposing the city budget $100,000 for repairs to maintain the Peace Fountain.
According to an administration report, most of its systems and fixtures are outdated. They say that the lighting is run by a DOS based software program “that is understood by very few.”
In addition, computer control systems, valves, electrical breaker panels and other components require a major review and replacement.
Pending budget approval, a request for proposals will be put together to hire a consultant to review the entire structure and put forward recommendations.
