The Ontario Provincial Police gave a little back at a RIDE program in Tecumseh on Thursday.
During a RIDE check point on Lesperance Road officers handed out Tim Horton gift cards to a few of those drivers who had not been drinking and who were in compliance with the Highway Traffic Act rules of the road, including wearing their seatbelt.
The “Positive Ticketing Program” and variations of this program has been established across Canada in communities such as Richmond, Kelowna, Grand Prairie, Toronto and Caledon.
“It’s nice to be able to get a smile from a driver at a RIDE initiative. The OPP is committed to keeping our communities safe and drinking and driving prevention is an integral part of that commitment,” said Provincial Constable Karen Sinnaeve from the Tecumseh OPP.
