Leamington Taxi Cab Blitz Sees Nine Placed Out Of Service

A taxi cab blitz took place in Leamington on December 14th, 2016 by the OPP and the Ministry of Transportation.
In total 11 taxi cab inspections were conducted that resumed in nine being placed out of service, six plates removed, and two Leamington taxi plates removed by the bylaw officer.
The vehicles placed out of service where for steering, frame rot, tires and brakes. All vehicles are placed in an unsafe status until repairs are completed.
“The safety of our citizens who utilize various forms of commercial transportation, such as Taxi’s, need to be assured that these vehicles are in compliance with all safety requirements. The OPP encourages the use of public and commercial transportation, particularly at this time of year with the festive season now upon us. In collaboration with our Ministry of Transportation partners, Essex County OPP Traffic Management Unit will continue with such forms of enforcement in order to ensure compliance and ensure the safety of the motoring public,” said Inspector Glenn Miller, Essex County OPP.
