The contractors hired by the Town of Tecumseh for garbage removal continues to make progress picking up debris left from last weeks floods.
WDS began picking up at 5am Thursday with ten trucks, and are attempting to add more crew if possible.
The town says that due to volumes of debris, pick-up is slow going. One truck can hold 12-14 tonnes however, mattresses, couches and bulky items take up more room. They then return to the landfill to unload on a 30 minute round trip.
WDS will be working overtime into this evening to pick-up as much debris as physically possible. There are no set streets and the town says they have not told them to focus on any specific area. Their intent is to cover the entire town today.
Yard waste pick-up on Monday is being replaced with flood debris pick up.
Crews have already picked up 190,000 kg of materials Monday and Tuesday.
