Police and EMS crews worked together to help a man who was in distress on Tuesday.
Police say it happened around 2:30pm at an apartment building in the city.
Officers arrived and learned that a 65 year old male made threats of hurting himself and was refusing to open the door. Officers communicated with this party through the door trying to de-escalate the situation but their concern was heightened once he became unresponsive.
Officers entered the barricaded apartment on the 7th floor out of concern for his safety. Once inside officers were surprised to find the male hanging onto the railing of the balcony struggling to maintain his grip. Officers rushed to the male. They reached over the balcony securing their grip to prevent him from falling. EMS paramedics then came into the apartment and with their assistance, officers and EMS together, were able to pull the male back over the railing to safety.
The male was then transported to hospital for medical attention.
