CS Wind announced it plans to shut down its Windsor plant for six weeks due to a gap in orders.
The company, which announced the plans to its employees on Thursday, intends to close the facility between July 25th and after Labour Day.
Company spokesperson Donna Kinsman-Jackson says the company expects to be very busy in the fall and in 2017.
“The temporary shutdown is due to a timing issue in the scheduling of contracts,” says Kinsman-Jackson. “We value the positive rapport we have with our union representatives so the CS Wind Canada management team worked around the clock to pull some of these orders forward to avoid a summer shutdown, but they could not be moved ahead as we hoped.”
CS Wind plans to spend the summer taking care of preventive maintenance projects for equipment and preparing for new major contracts beginning in September.
“We look forward to our employees returning in six weeks, and to open dialogue with the Ironworkers, 721, throughout this period,” adds Kinsman-Jackson.
