The University of Windsor starts the collective bargaining process this week with the first of its seven bargaining units.
On Wednesday, May 18th, the University will be meeting with CUPE Local 1393 whose collective agreement expired on March 31, 2016.
CUPE Local 1393 represents nearly 300 skilled trades, professional, and technical employees, providing a wide range of services crucial to the university community, from plumbing and carpentry to nursing and therapy, graphic design and public relations.
The University filed a Request for Appointment of Conciliation Officer with the Ontario Ministry of Labour. A conciliation officer has since been appointed and will be joining the talks on Wednesday.
CUPE 1393 workers went on strike for a month back in September 2013.
