Firefighters battled a second fire Friday evening just blocks away from a blaze on Edison Street.

This one broke out just before 6pm in an apartment above a restaurant at 2270 Wyandotte Street West near the University of Windsor.

Firefighters arrived while residents evacuated, restaurant patrons fled and smoke poured from the building’s roof.

It was put out quickly and was confined to one unit. The tenants are displaced.
