Defeated Watson To Collect Severance

Jeff Watson who lost his seat in Essex in Monday nights election will collect severance and pension.

According to the Canadian Taxpayers Federation Watson will receive an estimated severance of $92,000 and an annual pension of $55,000.

They say that Watson could collect $2,777,821 in pension over his lifetime.

Across Canada, the 180 defeated and retiring MPs will collect $5.3 million in annual pension payments, reaching a cumulative total of $209 million by age 90. In addition, another $12.8 million in severance cheques will be issued to former MPs.
