Cypher Systems Group is giving a multi year donation of $250,000 to complete the Essex-Amherstburg Greenway.

The abandoned rail line was first donated to the Foundation for development in 2003. This property stretches 26 kilometres, from the urban centre of Essex, to the Town of Amherstburg and intersects with the existing Chrysler Canada Greenway in McGregor. A portion of the greenway was completed in 2010. The Foundation launched its Trail On! campaign in 2012 to raise the funds to complete the project.

“Cypher Systems Group is proud to support the Trail On! campaign, encouraging our communities to connect with the environment in a healthy, active lifestyle,” said Brian Schwab, President, Cypher Systems Group . “We look forward to our partnership with the Foundation as part of our goal is to engage and educate our employees on healthy active living.”

Completing this greenway will support active living, promote economic diversity, and provide a meaningful outdoor experience for a healthier, more sustainable community. “Recreation has become a rapidly growing tourism activity,” said said Richard Wyma, Executive Director of ERCA. “These investments will enhance our regional tourism industry and enhance quality of life for local residents who can also enjoy the trail.”

Individuals and companies interested in supporting the Trail On! campaign can contact Susanne Tomkins of the Essex Region Conservation Foundation at 519-776-5209 x366. For more information about the trail and the work of the Foundation visit www.ourgreenlegacy.org.
