A new business that brings book arts and printmaking to the heart of Walkerville opens this Saturday.
Levigator Press is Windsor’s first street level printmaking and bookbinding studio fully open to the public, with press rental and private instruction are available to professional artists and hobbyists.
The studio will also play host to artists’ clubs, a monthly knit night, and other artists from the community offering workshops in such wide ranging activities as comic book drawing, painting, and sewing.
They will also offer beginner level workshops and master classes in hand bookbinding, printmaking, letterpress, drawing, papermaking, and fibre arts. Upcoming classes include woodblock printing, creating rubber stamps, screen printing on tote bags, block printing on fabric, various bookbinding methods, monotype printing, beginning knitting, and more.
The grand opening on Saturday will feature a letterpress printing demo from 2pm to 3pm, and a relief printing demo from 4pm to 5pm in which guests can bring their own t-shirt to have a special opening day image printed on it, free of charge.
There will be a live performance by Windsor’s Crissi Cochrane from 7p, to 11pm.
You can find them at 1984 Wyandotte Street East.
