The Ambassador Bridge was closed in the early hours of the morning after someone phoned in a bomb threat.

Police say a call was made to Detroit Police via 911 advising that there was a bomb on the bridge.

Windsor Police, the Canada Border Services Agency, US Customs and Border Protection and Detroit Police were all on scene around 4:40am to shut down the bridge.

The bridge was closed temporarily while agencies from both sides of the border conducted a sweep.

No bomb was apparently found and the bridge was reopened to traffic by 6am.
