The Windsor Essex County Environment Committee has awarded $2,000 to four local environmental groups and schools, during their annual “Pat on the Back” awards.
The four winners are:
Amherstburg Public School, who will be constructing a natural ecosystem watershed in partnership with the Detroit River Canadian Cleanup.
Princess Elizabeth Public School, who would like to purchase two large rotating composters for their composting program.
Green Machine, an independently run neighbourhood composting ambassador wishing to raise awareness and attract new members.
St. Joseph Elementary School, who would like to continue their naturalization project by planting a native butterfly garden.
“Each and every applicant deserves a Pat on the Back. It was a very tough decision as all of the groups are doing great projects that contribute to environmental sustainability, said Charlie Wright, co-chair of WECEC. “I encourage those who did not receive an award this year to apply again next year and keep up the good work.”
