Four Windsor-area schools are planning to improve safety with the addition of dedicated bus bays.

As we reported earlier, Roseland Public School is at the top of the list for improvements and will see the elimination of side-of-the-road pick-ups for children in front of the school. A new bus bay will come into the property directly in front of the school and away from busy Cabana Road traffic.

Three other bus bay projects are being funded by the City of Windsor. Next up is a bus bay at Monseigneur Jean Noel school on California Avenue in South Windsor. École élémentaire catholique Georges P Vanier on Edgar Street and Forest Glade Public School will also get bus bays.

The purpose of adding bus bays to existing schools is to lower the risk of an accident due to the interaction of road traffic with school buses and pedestrians. City Council will be asked to vote tonight on approving funding of $100,000 for these four schools.
