Hands to the Earth: After c.j.fleury
A community arts project lead by artist, Alana Bartol. This was a MayWorks Windsor event held on Sat. May 5th, 2012 at the Campus Community Garden Project (CCGP) at the University of Windsor. Artist c.j.fleury originally created the flower mandala project in Quebec with community members. She created a ‘recipe’ for the project so that anyone could do it in any community.Over 20 people worked for almost four hours, creating this organic mandala. Community members and artists brought materials such as flower petals, pinecones, rocks, egg shells, orange peels and more. Everyone worked together to come up with the design.
The mandala is a symbol of peace, reflection and harmony. It has been left to the elements and animals. It can be found at the CCGP, which is located at 380 California Ave in Windsor, Ontario.
