Downtown Windsor Plans Block Parties Every Weekend, All Summer Long

Plans are in the works by the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association to have themed parties every weekend of the summer season which will see different blocks shut down each weekend.
The “Summer Block Series” consists of ten parties which would include extended patios, stages with live music and entertainments displays. The parties are intended to draw families and tourists to the downtown core all summer long.
The planned Summer Block Series events are:
- Weekend of June 22nd – Chatham Street Hoedown
- Weekend of June 29th – Canada Day
- Weekend of July 6th – Comedy
- Weekend of July 13th – TBA
- Weekend of July 20th – Motown
- Weekend of July 27th – Rocks & Rolls
- Weekend of August 3rd – Disco
- Weekend of August 17th – Homegrown Talent
- Weekend of August 25th – Balloonapalooza
A public meeting will be held on Tuesday at 400 City Hall Square in room 401 at 6pm to give residents and business owners who live and work downtown a chance to give feedback and see plans for road closures and temporary stages.
The street closure requests go before city council this Monday evening for approval.
