After giving time to the owner of Grace Hospital until January 30th 2012 to complete necessary cleanup and repairs to the site, the City’s Building Department is planning to take action at the site on February 1st.

The City of Windsor was notified on December 30th by Westpark Developments that they are attempting to take legal possession of the site through mortgage default proceedings and plan to fully comply with work orders for the crumbling former hospital.

In a letter to the City of Windsor, Westpark states that they are “now in discussion with prospective purchasers who have some very positive plans for the redevelopment of the site”.

A report to City council states that a grand total of $1,143,097 in tax arrears are owed on the site and the City can legally sell the building as of June 29th of this year.

Westpark or the current owners of Grace Hospital are being given until January 30th to comply with building code orders or the City plans to either “effect repairs” at a cost of $85,000 or demolish the buildings at a cost of $2 – $3.1 million on February 1st.
