The final weekend of August will be a busy one in Historic Amherstburg.
Art by the River is Saturday and Sunday at Fort Malden. This is the major fundraiser of the year for the Gibson Gallery. First held in 1967, it has grown into an end of summer tradition in Amherstburg and the largest Arts and Crafts Show in Essex County. It runs both days from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Admission is just $4.50 and children 12 & under enter free when accompanied by an adult.
The 157-ft Pride of Baltimore II will be in town all weekend for tours. Docked at Duffy’s Dock yard, it arrives Saturday at noon. Free Dockside Deck Tours are Saturday from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Sunday from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.
At the Mudpuppy Gallery, Julie Bell will have her impressive works of art in glass on display all weekend long. The gallery is open both days from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
The third Annual Beat Night takes place Saturday evening at the Downtown Espresso Cafe. Admission is just $2.00 to catch local talent ranging from poetry to song and dance. The night starts at 7:00 pm.
