Summerfest Saved! Returning Downtown

Summerfest is returning to Windsor’s downtown, thanks to cries of support by local citizens, hard work by the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Area and pressure from City Hall.

The Windsor Parade Corporation had originally planned to move the iconic summertime midway to the WFCU Centre due to construction on the Riverfront, specifically at the Festival Plaza and Civic Terrace.

Due to an outcry of support for the Festival’s return to Downtown, including a Facebook group that swelled to three thousand members, the Parade Corporation and World’s Finest Shows have decided to move the event back to the Downtown Core.

The switch back to downtown was announced at a press conference by Mayor Eddie Francis and representatives of the Parade Corporation just moments ago.

Summerfest will take place west of the Civic Terrace, mostly in Dieppe Park.  Some rides may not be present due to the smaller festival location according to Parade Corporation CEO Maggie Durocher.

Summerfest begins on June 16th!
