In an artform known for fiction, one Windsor singer/songwriter is being honest in her latest music video.
Last night at Rino’s Kitchen (131 Elliott St.,) Crissi Cochrane debuted the video for her song Drive All Night. Shot entirely in the Windsor-area and directed by Gavin Michael Booth, the clip features some honest touches plucked directly from the song and her life itself.
Inspired by Cochrane’s relationship with Michou band-member Mike Hargreaves, the tune focuses on time spent apart due to both artists’ tour schedules. In the video, Hargreaves “acts” as the female singer’s boyfriend and their apartment is featured as the couple’s home.
Places such as Milk Coffee Bar (68 University Ave. W) and Rino’s Kitchen, venues the two frequent, were also used as backdrops as well. All locations were added for a personal touch.
“I feel like when you watch most music videos, it’s actors piecing together a story, where as with this song, this video- this IS the story,” said Cochrane in a press release. “It’s real. It’s a story that Mike and I are living everyday. I think there is something truly special about that- it’s really personal.”
With an outdoor garden party theme, resembling a scene shot in Rino’s Kitchen’s backyard, the restaurant offered a 2-for-1 special on their sandwhiches. Jackie Robataille, Livi and Cochrane herself, accompanied by Hargreaves, provided additional entertainment with their live music.
Earlier this year, Cochrane released her debut EP, Pretty Alright. She tours throughout Ontario on a regular basis, is routinely featured on CBC Radio 3 and Drive All Night is her second single.
